Advanced training for post test drivers.
You’ve passed your driving test – maybe you’ve completed the ‘Pass Plus’ course – what more can you do to improve your standard of driving?
Well, you could train to take your advanced driving test – in fact, there are two you can do:
The Institute of Advanced Motorists advanced driving test
And
The RoSPA Advanced Drivers Association advanced driving test
Briefly, the IAM test is a single test and the aims of the IAM are to improve the standard of driving on the UK’s roads, and the Advancement of Road Safety. If you pass the test, you will be able to join the IAM.
The RoSPA advanced test has to be retaken periodically, to ensure that the required driving standard is maintained. The aims of RoSPA are the reduction of road accidents by encouraging interest in road safety, by improving driving standards, knowledge and skill.
An advanced motorist:
Is an above average driver
Concentrates all the time they are at the wheel
Has complete control of the car at all times and under all circumstances, i.e. is in the correct part of the road, has the correct gear engaged and is travelling at the correct speed
Drives safely with courtesy
Sets a good example to others
